Yes it's weird because it is virtually the same, but lacks all the grace of the original.

For me, David Bowie's version of Across The Universe is one of the worst that come to mind. Completely loses the song.

I quite like his version of Mr Tambourine Man though.

Shatner's generally considered to be in the "so bad it's good" category, I think. On the other hand, Tori Amos's version of "Happiness is a warm gun" is truly awful, and I speak as a massive Tori fan.

Speaking personally, I can't stand Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You", but I guess that I'm in a tiny minority for feeling that.

Gotta be Rod Stewart doing "Man Of Constant Sorrow" with Shatner poking it in the butt (that means a very close second)

Avril Lavigne's cover of System Of A Down's song Chop Suey. My ears can still remember the pain inflicted by that.
