I was rather keen on an alternative band called Crispy Ambulance. I was once in a short lived band called Aerial Road Show. I remember we were in a pub working on some logo ideas and the drummers girlfriend brought the band's acronym to our attention - ARS. We folded soon after that.

Some dumb names have funny stories associated with the name (e.g. Skynyrd and Zeppelin), and punk bands always get a pass because of the need to stand out on a photocopied 8x11 flyer. Somebody probably already mentioned Arctic Monkeys - sounds like a band from an episode of Quincy

I remember a hip-hop band from the mid-80s called Young Black Teenagers, whose members were neither (IIRC) black, nor teenagers. That always cracked me up.
