Some of you may think that this is a stupid comment but, in regards to spending over $300 for a micro drive based DAP, just because the amp may produce "better" SQ than most other mp3 players... Why not address implementing a lossless codec (FLAC) in order to take advantage of said benefit ?

I'm all for better SQ in a DAP, but when we're talking about WMA or Mp3 (wav files are too large to be considered for a 10 gig DAP) files, I don't think that it matters all THAT much in the greater scheme of things when you're on the go (train/noisy streets), and that IS what we're talking about, not a front end player.

Too $$ IMO. Perhaps 20 or 30 gigs, and then it would be more reasonable I think.

Not an unreasonble observation.

Nonetheless, 1000 song (320 bit MP3 cbr lame), digital amp and the size of a Zippo. I could deal with it.

Ever hold a Zippo lighter ? If so, do you have small enough hands to think that if the navigation controls weren't exactly "proper", that you wouldn't fumble with it all the time ? I'm all for pushing technology into unseen territory, but I think that when it comes to small form factor, I'd personally rather see it progress on the innards of a DAP, rather than make one (dap) so small, that my fingers (sorry, I'm not a petit girl) overlap every single control available.

When I say innards, I mean FM and recording controler chips so small, that a manufacturer doesn't have to even consider how to fit them inside a perfectly sized DAP. Though the term perfect of course has different meanings to differently sized people, I think there have been DAPs which at least set a good example of what a good size is.

On a side note... Are the digital amps as seen in this DAP, the same kind, as those in the receiver market currently ? I'm talking technology of course, and not same specific kinds.

Actually the iaudio 6 is slightly larger (in volume). I also though that the iaudio 6 was the smaller one, but its 35.6 x 76.1 x 19mm (Compared to the Kenwood 62x44x17mm).

yes, and very low compared to the 30+30mW (at 16 Ohm) of iaudio 6 (which is in many ways comparable to the Kenwood).

I had the iaudio U3 which was 30mW+30mW and it is less powerful than my Kenwood HD30GB9 8mW + 8mW.

what does an "mW" mean anyway? you mean an 8mW player has no difference with a 30mW? sorry. i do not know much of this.
