Has anybody compare these two headphone amps? Thank you
Unless you actually need the power of the SE, just so you know, the general consensus is that the WA6 is simply better. For the sole reason that you can get a 6SN7/6F8G/6C8G adapter, and run those tubes. All are sonically superior, vastly superior, to 6DE7.
General consensus? Where do we find the comparisons on which this consensus is based?
I'd probably go with the Taboo for the easy speaker-driving capability; I like having flexibility in case I ever find myself using components in ways I hadn't thought of when I bought them.
I love 6SN7s, but tube-rolling Decware amps usually is a much cheaper proposition. The stock input tube is a 6N1P, which is a dirt-cheap Russian equivalent to a 6922/6DJ8 and sounds pretty darned good for a "stock" tube. Outputs aren't too bad either, unless you get into the higher-end Bugle Boy varieties.
