Blue Jeans Cables are my favorite, but shipping to UK might be a deal breaker for you.
I've used them in the past and almost used them again, but they were backordered when I needed my 1st set of XLR, so I moved over to World's Best.

Great idea, I will try all these and report back. Thank you all.
I went through an exhaustive exercise, labeling all the tubes, swapping them left-to-right, and with different combinations. I had no problems with the 6SN7's I've got but had difficulties with a large batch of 6080's I had. I am interested to hear how your exercise is going so far!

Power tubes do seem to be the WA22 achilles heel.

I have tried a lot of different types and they can be a hit or miss on noise. They can even differ by batch.
I did find the quietest and most consistent were the non bottle types. The shorter tubes.
Like in mine pictured below:

They may not be the best sounding. Some can. But in my discoveries they were consistently the quietest.

5998 are the only tubes that consistently give me quiet results. 7236 is a short bottle equivalent in terms of power output that may give similar results and can be found for reasonable prices.

Strong rectifiers like the 596 also quiet down cheaper 6080 tubes, in my experience.

I will confirm that "...Strong rectifiers like the 596 also quiet down cheaper 6080 tubes". Unfortunately, I can't find affordable 5998 nor reasonably priced 7236 (if you have leads, let me know). I am using THOMPSON-CSF 6080WA and they are affordable and quiet. Do anyone else have any suggestions?

Anyone have experience running xlr cables through the front HP outs into a power amp? I have a WA22 Gen 1 (no pre-amp outs) and thought I'd give this a shot for Susvara HP's.

I assume the Gen 1 doesn't have a pre-out like the Gen 2 does?

right. No pre-amp out. The funny part is that the case has cutouts for the pre-amp outs in the back. Means Woo knew the pre outs were coming.

I am so happy with Woo WA22. Guess just bought too early.

No bad thoughts re Woo.

FWIW I recall when the Gen 2 came out a few posters said they were already using the front XLR outs on their Gen 1 models and had no reason to spend more for the new model and dedicated pre-out.

The appropriate cables to connect WA22 HP outs into power amp inputs just arrived - male to male 3-pin XLR's. Driving Susvara thru AHB2.

Works perfectly!! Thanks James!!

Never too early to buy a Woo  but you might not have ponied up for the options :frowning2:

Woo offered pre amp as an option on Gen 1 going back some time. It was available when I got my 2016 build and there are references to it over the years before I bought. I had no need so I passed on getting the upgrade. No cut outs on my unit. No doubt Woo started making new backplates when the pre amp was to become standard. Woo made other rolling upgrades that are spoken to in the various threads. Solid company and good people.

Here is one reference by a well known and respected member, Dubstep Girl. Almost a full decade ago...
