WM8741 DAC POWER SUPPLY..

Yes, it looks like it should be fine, just specify 12v output. You should email them to confirm the input voltage just in case, but I think a 15V center tapped Transformer would do the job.

I just wish the WM8742 was available! I'd like to swap the chips on my opus out for it, but nobody has them for sale yet

I must say it's quite cool that the 874x series are all pin compatible, letting you upgrade whatever equipment you have that used one of the chips

It seems the WM8742 is a cost reduced version of the WM8741. If you look at the data sheet, they are identical except in SNR (128 for the '41 and 126 for the '42).

I also read the white paper about how they designed the DAC and the new filters. In order to take advantage of the new "apodizing" filters, you need a sample rate higher than 44.1

Thus if you want an upgrade, you need to insert the Metronome and select high sampling rate.

And of course you need some controller to access filter 4 and 5 (the apodizing filters) because they are only available through its s/w interface.

more motivation for me to try my hand at software control!

Well, what we know is that the datasheets are identical, except the 8741 has better specs, and cost twice as much.

Hi guys,
I've bought a wm8741 evaluation board and I must to put inside, as you know a +12 and - 12V

Do you think that it can be right?
PSC-Audio

with a center tapped transformer 12.6V 30VA ?

thank you so much for your help..

Dan
