I already have a Xbox 360 Crossfire receiver although would have no problem purchasing a bluetooth dongle and headset.

Any recommendations please?

Maximum distance will be 20ft +/- a few.

Definitely BT as they are dirt cheap now, plus it will work with phones and PS3 too.
