I want to wirelessly connect my PC to a wireless media player. So the steps will be PC wired to router then supported wireless to media player. The question i have is will the audio go through my soundcard or the onboard sound. As far as i know i need to actually connect to the sound card to benefit from it, so would i need to seperately hook that up to the router?

As you can tell i am a wifi beginner.

Wifi is no different from any other internet connection from a software standpoint. It will use whatever sound card you have configured.
