So I'm using Winamp on a Windows 8 Asus Zenbook, but I see many other people using Foobar. Is one better than the other? If so, what makes it better?

Thanks!

PS: You might need to explain this semi simplistically.

I use Foobar because I like the interface. It's simple, highly customizable and handles a large library well. When I'm in the mood I can spend an hour just tinkering with the layout. There's a lot of plugins available for it too, but it doesn't have native VST support.

Interface is the main reason to pick one or the other.
