Many of my hard rock cd's have been limited to 0.4-0.6 db (as reported by SoundForge and Goldwave) instead of 1 db . That is they have been heavily compressed(dynamic range has been killed) and volume reduced. As such,i am forced to turn the volume up/down when tracks from different albums are played.
So know of any plugin that quickly scans the file for the maximum peaks and increases the volume of the playback so that the peaks dont clip ??

Thanks.

if you use foobar then replaygain is the solution i believe you are after. otherwise give mp3gain a try.

AFAIK to get replaygain to work in winamp, you need to have the Shibatch mpg_123.dll file. It will only wok with mp3s and you have to play the entire song to do replaygain it. It doesn't read the tags like Foobar does. You might as well use Foobar if you want to do that. :)
