I'm currently using the following hardware and software configuration:
Audiophile USB:
-96KHz
-24bits
-Low latency
Winamp:
-waveout SSRC at 88.2KHz, 16bits, fast mode off
-Enhancer v0.17 (awesome, but only works with 16bits of input)
-MAD plugin at 16bits
My question is if combining 88.2kHz and 16bits (winamp), with 96KHz and 24bits (audiophile USB) is a good idea. I've tried using 48KHz and 16bits on both sides, but I can't seem to decide which is better. Is there any loss of quality either way?
