You need to restart foobar to activate any component .dlls you put in.

Go to the preferences tree, then 'Playback->Output', choose the suitable WASAPI output from the dropdown list.

I think WASAPI is 24-bit[mine is and it works, 32 doesn't], no dither.

Hi guys, got WASAPI but no output!

I get error message:
'Unrecoverable playback error: Could not open device: unsupported data format: 44100 Hz / 24-bit / 2 channels'

And I've tried ALL BIT RATES, nothing works!

I'm using a M-Audio Transit USB. Please help.

16 bit and restart is my best guess. I get that error sometimes when I make changes in the foobar control panel and forget to restart.

Try ASIO4ALL...another bit-perfect output.

Hi, just installed ASIO4ALL and I get...
'Unrecoverable playback error: The ASIO device does not support specified sample rate (44100Hz); please configure resampler appropriately'

My soundcard is determined not to play through either WASAPI or ASIO!!! :xf_mad:

Any help with be much appreciated!

Does your soundcard run ASIO natively?

chodecz, try using the Resampler DSP plugin in Foobar and set it to 48000 Hz. That will likely fix your problem, I think.

are their sounds cards out there that will run 48k and not 44k?

What can Foobar offer me over Winamp?

Customization, I can do whatever I want with it. But if you're not interested in that, then perhaps Winamp would be the better choice.

Mostly cheaper codecs as usually found in laptops/cheap mobos.

For instance, my work laptop uses a shoddy Sigmatel audio codec that only supports a 48 KHz ASIO4All output stream. Resampling is required.

Uniqueness too, i.e. I doubt many folks in the world have foobars even 90% alike to mine.

I had foobar and the wasapi plug-in working, but recently reinstalled Windows XP (32bit), and it does not work anymore. Just got the latest version of foobar and wasapi from their site.
Wasapi is shown at 'components', but it doesn't show up at "playback -> output". Someone knows how to fix it?

^WASAPI was made for Vista. Try ASIO or Kernel-streaming on XP.
OT, but shut-down/restart foobar after major changes. If you get a BSOD or another catastrophe later it'll open up the last version, i.e. prior to changes.
