Will the Woo WEE (Dynamic To Electrostatic Headphone Converter) Play Nice With My Denon Pma 600ne Amp/Pre-Amp?

The Woo WEE will work, but since the SR-L700 series drivers have 009 diaphragms, a more actively-driving amp will work better, like this one:

Also, this is a KGSS-clone, so try it first-hand before buying it. :)
I'm a bit conflicted now. I reached out and contacted woo audio and they said the woo wee would work well with my denon integrated amplifier. It's hard to tell wether they're lying/telling a half truth etc, or maybe it will work well...

Your amp will just meet the threshold.

Furthermore, ignore that linked amplifier. It's a complete garbage counterfeit which has been extensively covered.

Do you reckon it will sound decent at least, and ill be able to get the volume up to a reasonable level or will it struggle?
The WEE is terrible. You will reach nominal listening levels.

So you reckon its worth saving for a STAX SRM-353X instead then?
The value judgement is always a difficult question.

You would either want to pursue something like the 353 or a modified transformer solution.
Mjolnir-Audio may have something available, likely not.

I've been looking at Mjolnir-Audio electrostatic amps and i've noticed a lot of the connectors on these amps dont take standard cables, only electrostatic cables?... is this a standard thing or? Would i need to buy expensive electrostatic cables etc?

I noticed the Tiny Triode uses standard input and output connections. Do you think this would make a good electrostatic amp?

They do employ specialized connectors which is a standard so you are not confused.

The Tiny Triode is one of the few amps I've not heard from any of the Gilmore community builds. You should email Spritzer and ask him his thoughts on the amp and therein pairings.

No worries, will do mate.

Just quickly, do you know anywhere i could buy those specialised cables from if i decide on getting the Octave 2 (also do you you have any thoughts on this amp)?
Apologise for all the questions, but that should be it. Thanks again.

The cables on the headphone are available from STAX.

The input on the Octave is a standard XLR. You may also use simple XLR to RCA adapters if your DAC is only single ended.

So you aren't confused.

Octave is like a super-miniature-HV, expect a slight bit of warmth from midrange through treble integration and a bit more control with bass response.
Without a reference, they'll perform a slight bit tighter and detailed than the STAX amps.

Good gateway. If you can stretch it, the KGSSHV is a very, very good amp in endgame performance.

Older generations are also acceptable - KGSS, DX, will be more difficult to find.
As well, take note of build origin for these variants.

The Gilmore community is quite close knit, so nothing falls through the cracks. Avoid China markets, and simply ask for help with clarifications.

No worries. I'm a bit confused by the set up. So i dont have a DAC just the headphones and a laptop/phone etc. So what exactly would i plug to the 2 left and right STAX cables at the back of the Octave 2 into?

You will definitely want to pickup a DAC. Schiit Audio offers great entry pieces.

So i've been speaking with the creator of these electrostatic amps recently (Birgir) and have been trying to sus out which would be the better buy, the limited edition Tiny Triode Electrostatic Tube Amp or the Octave 2?

I would have picked the Tiny Triode as it's supposed to be more forgiving of the source and have a warmer sound, as well as being cheaper, but the one thing holding me back is that it doesn't have balanced input unlike the Octave 2. So i'm just wondering how that would affect the sound quality if at all and if it would be worth ''upgrading'' to the Octave 2 or not? Which would you pick?

Also, Yes i'll have to sus out my options for cheap available DACs, thanks for the heads up. :)
