Will my receiver be able to power HD650's?

I was really looking at getting the HD650s as they are right in my budget range. I was wondering if my Yamaha 5.1 stereo receiver would be able to work as an AMP so I could use the HD650's, or if I would need to get an amp. I was also wondering if you need a DAC on top of a receiver. I don't really know much about this stuff but I would love to get a new pair of headphones but I need to make sure I would be able to enjoy them before I purchase them.

What model Yamaha receiver?
Chances are your Yamaha receiver can drive the 300-Ohm Sennheiser HD650s
But chances are that a separate DAC/amp would bring out the HD650s best.
What sources are you plugging into the Yamaha?
