I am looking for a isolating closed full size phone use as a portable in the winter.
Listen to most kind of music except rap and R&B, mainly rock, electronic, jazz.

Phone that I like:
AD2000
W5000
SRH840
K701
UE 700

Phone are ok:
SRH440
SE102
SE420

Phone that I hate:
SE530 (sorry)
D1001 < too much bass, not tight enough.
Bose . .
Skullcandy... xD

I thought the new shures were portable. I've been told that they are in a whole other league from the v-6. I have the v-6 myself and am looking for a better portable. If I could afford to spend the $$ I'd probably get the 840's. The v-6 is just too harsh with some material, at least for my taste...big boost in the upper mids and dip in the upper bass. The RP21 is warmer and smoother( and I think more neutral), but not very portable. Since you like the shure's, why didn't you buy one?

Price issue, but your description suggest I may like them. Sounds like they are cold and not boomy.

Price issue with me too. The v6 are definitely not a warm and smooth sounding hp. Decent bass and detail, and not boomy at all. It's the dip in the 200 hz freq. area that takes away any of that boom. It's a matter of personal taste, I suppose, but I don't like the edginess or harshness in the upper mids that comes out with some material.

All things considered- sound; build quality; portability... Sony V6 is still my favourite budget closed headphones.

Nothing like that has happened to my 10 years' old V6 . Maybe I'm lucky.

Never had a prob. with the brackets on my v-6 either. Agree with the m50 suggestion...might be worth a look. Maybe someone who has heard both...v-6 and m50 ...would be able to compare them.
