Will I lose quality by using an audio switcher?

I'd like to use my headphones with my PC and TV/receiver.

I'm thinking about buying a cheap 2-port audio switcher but will I lose any quality by doing this? Are there any "high end" ones available?

Also, I'll probably eventually add a small headphone amp on the output of the switcher before the signal reaches the headphones.

Not necessarily true.

You could get a quality passive preamp which will have little to no discernible SQ difference. Even a cheap switch with a very little mod would have little to no SQ decrease.

a cheap @ss switch will degrade sound yes and you certainly wouldnt want to amplify that by putting the amp after the switch. but the poster above is right, if you find a decent passive pre-amp, this would be a much better solution, not as cheap though. you could build a switch like above as well, using just a half decent quality 2pdt switch like a TOCOS or similar, you could put one together for maybe $25-35 with a hammond
