will grado repair my igrado a second time?

Not for free, but I'm sure they'd still repair it for a small fee. They're very reasonable. When my SR-80's right (or left? can't remember) driver started to go and they were well past the warranty, they replaced the drivers, the entire cable and jack, and sent them back for $30 flat. Great people.

no wonder they're broken

but I do wonder whether that is covered by the warranty

on the GradoLabs site you can find the address and the procedure is pretty clear I guess: send the receipt + the defective item (and of course a description of the problem) to them if it is under warranty (you can do this also if it isn't, but you won't know what it will cost beforehand) and if you need more info, mail 'em through their site
