Will driving straight out of an iPod damage my Grado SR325i's

You are right if these are regular speakers . However , HP are not big speakers but very small ones and by this clipping probably won't hurt them because of the lack of power . The currents foating through a HP are so small that a underpowered amp will sound worse but not ruin them .

I tried my MS2i's with my wife's iPod (I guess it's a Nano, but I don't know about iPods) and I needed to use the maximum power to hear at a hardly decent volume.
But if you say they won't be damaged, well, that's ok.

cheers

Check the Volume Limit under Settings. Any iPod should be able to power a Grado/Allesandro phone without issue.

I rarely have my ipod volume turned up more than a bit over halfway on my 325is.
