I'm thinking  of getting a hd 650 and I was wondering if my Fiio E11 will be able to power them properly.

Well that's the thing. My file quality on my cowon x9 ranges from 128kbps to to 256. I'm serious about good sound but my files are not up to scratch. My e11 drives my Dt770 pro 250 ohm fine. I read that hd 650's are 300 ohm. I may need to upgrade my emp to an E12 first...lol!

Hmm yeah, I gathered that much reading through all the stuff here. Any recommendations of amp till $250? This is indeed wallet thinning.....bwahahaha!

Well yes if possible but if there is a better sounding amp that's not portable for under 250 then I would consider. Also hd650 will be for home use so it does make sense that it would be a desktop amp..

you could definitely consider going on the hd 650 thread and asking what people pair with the 650s. Theyre not an easy headphone to get a GREAT sound from, but not that hard to get a decent sound from.

The O2 ODAC combo, or just the amp, could be a possibility for you. Schiit stacks could also work for you, though ive heard some very mixed thoughts about the magni and modi stack with the 650.

My experience with desktop amps has been fairly limited so i wont give you too much insight on that, but to get a great sound out of the 650 with a portable amp would cost a bit more than 250. At least from what Ive gotten to try with the 650s.

I have just bought a C&C BH headphone amp for $75 here in sydny through user H20Fidelity. He says its a clear step up from E11 and possibly better than e12. With an 80 hour battery life to boot. I'll see if this drives/synergises with my DT770 Pro 250.
