WiiM Streamers Mini and Pro

Generally speaking, what are people's thoughts on the sound differences between optical out and coax out on the Pro? does anyone have a clear preference? I am currently experimenting with both and I feel the optical is edging it ever so slightly but I might be imagining it.
definitely imagining it.. unless you're running an unshielded 100ft RCA cable instead of a proper coax one..

There are good reasons why coax and optical should not sound the same.
- Optical provides galvanic isolation, coax does not
- Optical has higher jitter than coax
- The inputs are different, the DAC manufacturer may have optimized or compromised on one vs. the other.

Yes, Coax needs to be shielded to not pick up interference. (As long as you don't run it "in weird places" or too long, a $2 shielded cable will suffice, though)

If you can hear a difference, you need to replace your DAC. Because the manufacturer obviously did a horrible job and sold you a defective device.

Just got my Ultra today.
Up and running but being stupid I cannot see how to select output in app.
I can change it on the Ultra itself but on the Android app cannot see it in menu.
Input shows but not output.

On the devices page, choose the settings cog icon on the ultra block, then audio output. You’ll not see usb out until you have something connected to it.

Edit: or click on the current output on the Now Playing screen and a dropdown of outputs should appear.

What’s the build date of the firmware, just for posterity? Mine is still on 20240726 and doesn’t have the option yet (but I’m not sure how to force an update).
You cannot force an update. It’s the late Ultra update so 5.2.624365 released July 26th.
Latest App is 2.10.7.240724 for Android but it the Ultra you want.

That update as you can see by the date is only five days ago. I know WiiM do provide frequent updates, but give them time to catch their breath…
