depends on the manu usually they're gonna blame the impressions but some have been nice enough to do rebuilds for meWas the rebuild for free or did it cost an additional charge?

Why i changed my opinion on Custom IEM (CIEM) + Tips

I want to make it clear first of all that I am not an expert and I do not have much experience. However, the realization of my CIEM (I hope to receive it next week btw) was carried out smoothly and easily with Softears, as I live in China and I suppose it makes things easier.
They provided me with 4 different places in my city to take the samples from my ears, choosing the one that was closest to me.
They made the molds for me while I was sitting, with my mouth closed and in a let's say "normal" position, like when I'm listening to music.
Which seems to me to be logical; Personally, it makes sense that they try to make the molds in this way, since I don't listen to music with my mouth open, or sing, or eat.
But as I say, I'm not an expert.
The people at Softears were in contact by video call with the clinic staff, giving them certain instructions.
The sample of my right ear was immediately satisfactory; however, the one on the left ear had to be repeated 4 times for the people of Softears to give the go-ahead.
After this, after about 10 days I received the molds at my home to test (see photo) and confirm my OK or make the necessary adjustments.
In any case, after receiving the OK from the user, the CIEM would be finished in about 2 or 3 weeks.
They also send you the .stl files.
This is my experience. Best regards

Glad you're enjoying the perfect fit now, it really changes the whole experience.
The Softears homepage never mentions they also have customs. Seems like that's exclusive to ChinaI want to make it clear first of all that I am not an expert and I do not have much experience. Well dear Vamp 898, I'm not sure about that.
In any case, if anyone is interested it would be better to contact them directly via email.
The folks at Headfonia published a review a few years ago of a Cerberus CIEM, and it doesn't seem to have been based in China:
"Softears doesn’t have a special webpage to order a Custom IEM. You can contact them directly and get the instructions."

I am pretty sure, most people don't know that. Good to know and thanks for the info, but Softears should really add an info on the homepage about which products are available as custom, what the price difference is, instructions on how to take impressions an so on.Well dear Vamp 898, I'm not sure about that.
