Why has the SA6 completely dropped off everyones radar?

I agree 100 percent with the last two posts. I never faulted Jason and Sleek, but the two send backs was a little bothersome. When my wife said she would buy me the Westones, I needed the cash and not the SA6s. Funny thing is, I am not all that thrilled with the W3s. Oh well. I am sure Sleek will rebound.

Now I truly understand the logic of forsberg. If some IEM are bad, then all others are bad. If some or many Chinese products are bad, then all others are bad. that's why head-direct may be bad also since it has Chinese connection.

I have had some great experience with Fang and I think forsberg's speculation about head-direct is very unfair.

I got a faulty driver unit replaced in person at CES. Sucked that the driver itself broke in the first place, but that's another story.

No, some made in China stuff is good - as long as the brand did not originate from China itself, meaning it is under strict supervision on the whole assembly operation and quality control. Basically, that means any big company with assembly plants in China is ok.

You guys have to understand, China has the ability to make great quality products, BUT most are not governed properly so you always get sketchy products. The majority of companies in China are setup to make the most money using the least cost available. So whether they are pumping fruit with chemicals to make them more colorful or coating their toys with lead, it's always something. The worst part is, only the real big cases get reported, so the bulk of the other crap go unreported. So you can understand why I'd be weary of their stuff, especially things I put inside my ear.

Now, all that said, I'm not familiar with details behind head-direct and Fang's operation, whether he is a one-man-gang in charge of everything from US, or was just sent to US as a sales guy from China. But either way, being a typical guy in Hong Kong, I'll probably steer away from their products.

I went the other way around, from earphones like the Triple.Fi 10, Sennheiser IE8, and Westone 3 to the SA6 and much preferred the SA6 (with the treble+ and old bass+ ports). The new/updated bass+ port made the SA6 have some of the things I didn't like about the other earphones. I just got the Phonak Audeo PFE today, and right away they sound pretty good with the default grey filters. The black filters (like the SA6's updated bass+ port, but more so) also shifted the balance of sound too much towards what I didn't like about the other earphones.

I think the Atrio's have finally cemented themselves as a respected IEM. The original topic regarding them dates back to early 2007.

As one of the first proponents of the SA6's I'll add my two cents worth. A lot has happened in the IEM world over the past year but even so I still think the SA6's have their place as a less expensive and more versatile entry into high end universals. While I think it's bested by some of the recent IEM's I've heard, when you take price into account though I think it still holds nicely.

The fact that they are reasonably priced and very versatile both in usage and sonically via their VQ system is precisely why I've recommended them to many people entering the arena of higher end IEM's.

Are they perfect? No. Have they had some quality issues? Yes. But you know what? The reason I moved from the Shure E500's to the SA6's was predominately because of the cable cracking issues the Shure's had. More recently I've had to send my Westone 3's back because the cable unraveled over a section and would not twist back. Westone and Shure are not small companies, like Sennheiser these are players in pro audio, IEM's are just a small portion of their business. My point here is that quality issues are not only in the realm of smaller new companies, it's a matter of how these companies deal with the issues. IMO, Sleek has been nothing but stellar in dealing with their growing pains, they take customer satisfaction very seriously and I'm sure if the issues have not been fixed they will continue to work through them and hopefully the next generation addresses will see a more reliable product as a whole.

Well my customs arrived this morning and i'll admit at first i was disappointed both with the sound and the fit, but customs were new to me.

When out and about jean michelle jarre - equinoxe came on and at the time i was getting more used to wearing them, wow what a sound this song was made for sleeks i had an eargasm lol.

Quality is excellent in the unit, feels really solid and well made the only gripe is the y split on the cable makes it feel cheap and tacky but that's minor.

All in all im very happy but bear in mind to me they're like studio monitors, very precise and they will show up bad material very easily.

The added bonus is the pelican case is the perfect length for my s9.

I totally, I love my SA6 with vocals. the only time I can part with them is when I have the money for SE530 or westone 3.

does anyone have experience with sleek customs? when i had the sleeks in my hand, my biggest worry was not actually the plastic canal bits, but the metal female connection not being strong enough for 'wiggle' room with the male headphone cable.

i am ordering their customs as my last move away from any real consumer product so i just want to know if anyone has had problems with their customs as well.
