There are these two songs that play fine on my PC, but on my iriver it tries to read the track, then skips over to the next one. I cant find anything wrong with the tags. Do I need to update the DB or something?

Are they MP3, OGG, WMA, ASF, or WAV files? If not, the iHP can't play them.

they are MP3's that have much less than 52 chars. Makes no sense to me

Yeah, I have some mp3s that don't work on my Nomad Zen Xtra. Actually, it's just a particular set that I ... *cough*... pirated...

its weird though, its just 2 songs out of a batch of similar ones. It loads it up, then moves on to the next one.

My old RioVolt used to do that on lots of tracks for no apparent reason. I always figured it was "slighty" corrupted tags or something like that.

My archos has never done this that I have ever noticed.

I had a similar problem a while ago and found that all the offending songs were encoded at "non-standard" sample frequencies. I guess this is a bug in the IHP120. So resampling might solve your problem, at the cost of a degradation of sound quality (unless you have access to the source).
