Why does the Marantz PM8004 beat all amps that I own???

Leaving aside impedance mismatches, which can easily be fixed with a resistor costing a few cents, all amps with less than 2db noise sound the same if they can drive the speakers/cans used without clipping and are EQed to match each other:

You reach this level of performance for most headphones with the amp built into a $25 DAP. If  the OP prefers his Marantz it is because
 
1. He is too honest too fool himself
 
2. It's just as good an amp as any of the others
 
3. The sound signature matches his taste or the cans used without having to use EQ

I'm thinking about this amp for my living room rather than the Marantz PM6004.  You say your using it in your bedroom, can you tell if the volume would be fine for a 16 x 16 living area?
