RIP Grado SR-80's

..my first audiophile esque headphones, bought them brand new. They will rest well in the Pizza Box

Feb 2007 - Feb 2010

The right side just died today...I will miss them.
I noticed from the get go that the cables that come down from the cups would spin together and tangle. It seems if I sort of play around with the right cable a bit..the sound will partially (slightly) come back for half a second..but ultimately they are dead.

Why though?

Contact Grado. They can re-cable at a fair price. You really have to keep an eye on the twisting thing at both the cable entry to each can and at the Y yoke.

Otherwise, UPGRADE-thirty.......

I just checked with my home setup, they're fine. Must be something wrong with my PC settings.

AHHH..

It's $30 to replace the drivers and the cable. Just get it done.

Three years? Yikes! Owning a pair of headphones for 3 months is very good. I couldn't keep a pair for 3 years...I would have thought you'd have a HP-2 by now

I am hoping that it is still alive. Grados are legendary.
They don't die immediately. They live forever!
