Why are Etymotics so Horribly ugly?

It would be more presentably to make ear-canal part (all black plastic coveres driver) of titanium. And colored red/blue plastic of something like ceramics...

They don't look that cool at all. The wave radio/cd player is the only attractive item that Bose makes, IMHO.

I've seen so many posts referring to "sticking out of your ears". My ear canals must be huge or something, because when my Ety 4Ps are in all you see is the wire going down and maybe the very small end of the driver. Very discreet...does not look like a hearing aid! And they sound sooooo good!

They are not meant to be fashion objects, but high-end in-earphones, which they ARE imo. I never noticed that people look at me because of them, but maybe I am already ugly without them

if the ety's spent a little bit more money, they could have a well-rounded product.

Wonder why iPod sells so well?

The marketing department at Ety sure needs to convince the management about this issue.
I mean, how much more would it cost to have a cooler colour?
