For portable phones i have tasted px200, sportapro , er6 , ex71, koss plug , HE50, e888, and now ksc75 which i am currently enjoying. But the e888 keeps calling me!!! i even dream of it! i always remember it sounded great when i listened to metallica ride the lightning's call of the kthulu. Does it makes any sense to have e888 when i already have ksc 75? e888 is not audiophile quality compared to er6 yet i keep missing them as though they are something special to me. Arghzz i have love sick. The e888 is not durable and i have spoiled two of them. ( my 2nd pair is broken by my friend). Guys , help me !! Relieve my love sick for e888

Maybe give the Audio-Technica ATH-CM7/Ti a try? I've owned th E888s before, and judging from memory, I thought the CM7s were similar, but somewhat better in sound quality.

As for build quality, not really a contest at all.

its not the matter of sounding better , its the matter of how it present the sound. In terms of SQ wise er6 or ksc-75 is better but why i still miss e888?

i tried cm3 , it has good clarity but don have the warm feeling of e888. For months in Head fi i realise the way how phones present the music is more important than technical side of them

They ath cm7 and e888 sound quite different

You have my sympathy man. I use my e888 daily, and I prefer it over my um2. In terms of sound quality, um2 outclass e888 by a long shot. But e888 is more convenient for immediate music. Another reason why I love my e888 with Karma is that it it never sounds thin. I guess that's just that the magic of mid-range, right?

I'm having a quick trip down memory lane before a pair of Beyer DT880s arrive later this week, ready for my long anticipated review...

...Anyways... you might want to give the MDR-A44L a try... it was mentioned here a while back as a bit of a wonder-'phone... and, I must admit (again) that it is quite a compelling listen for how little money it costs
