For those fans of allman brothers, who do you think is a better player between the two?
1. My vote goes to betts !

my vote goes to:

a) they are both awesome

b) it is music, thus an art-form and not a CONTEST!

but that is just me

Ditto .... but if I had to choose between the two I would take Duane Allman.

I used to believe it was Duanne doing the majority of solo's but after analyzing much of their albums and looking at their dvd concerts - it seems it is Betts whos doing most of the solos while duanne is the one working on those slide guitar riffs! I maybe be wrong though as i dont have all their albums and dvd's

Hi Audi!

Yes, I think it is Betts that did a lot of those solos. But I think I like Duane a little better!

Maybe Warren Haynes would be a good comparison as well! But my Allman Bros. days are over. Perhaps I will check them out again. I haven't listened to them in years.

john,
Check out the dvd/cd Allman Bros live at greatwoods and see how Warren Haynes looked like a student playing besides the fantastic Betts!
also check out the Live at fillmore "memoy of elizabeth reed", it was Betts who was doing most of the great solos! I've always thought it was Duanne!
It was really a musician friend of mine who pointed this to me when we're jaming together one day just fooling around with some gibsons!

There is your order of best guitarists in the Allmans.

LOL, I guess there's no need for any more discussion.
