Who here is super experienced with headphones run AMPLESSLY in the $100-200 range?

By sub-bass extension i don't necessarily mean heavy impact and head-shaking but more just the ability to reproduce frequencies of 20-40hz. From what I've listened to I have trouble hearing anything under 50 or so hz on the Bose's whereas with my M50xs and crossfade M100s I hear frequencies down to about 30 hz I'd say. The gift recipient listens to a lot of EDM so that sub-bass frequency range is pretty important but it also won't be their only use!

Personal opinion: the Bose headphones are fine for EDM imho, and tick all of your boxes as well as the HD 280/380 or ATH-M50 could, but will "win" on comfort and being non-fatiguing (especially with lower quality sources). Do with that what you will.

I dont think DT770s are as good as your M-100s for EDM,but you could do a lot worse...in fact EDM is about one of the only genres that didnt make me wanna rip the 770s off my head and scream in pain.

Beat my record with them.

As these will be a gift I'm essentially looking for a headphone slightly cheaper than the M100s but more comfortable and isolating and possibly slightly easier to drive amplessly. I suppose I'm looking for a similar sound signature.

I feel like asking this at the beginning would have saved considerable time and provided significantly more clarification. :o

If you really like the V-MODA sound signature, they make lesser models under the M-100 that (from my brief time with them) are relatively similar. None of them are going to be a problem without a dedicated desktop setup - they're fashion headphones after all.

Ah indeed, indeed. I just was hoping to find an improvement in comfort and isolation without all-around loss in sound quality. She has been using my M100s for the past couple months and really likes them but I like seeing/trying new things! Wanted to get a different brand. Maybe that's the wrong thing to do though and maybe I should just go with the LP2 :/

If the V-MODA is what ticks all your boxes, why not?

Personally I think the Bose are much more comfortable than the weird diamond-shaped V-MODA cups (which obviously fit perfectly to my diamond-shaped head). Isolation is probably about the same though.

Yeah it's just the comfort and isolation I'm looking to improve. I just ordered a pair of Custom One Pro plus'. Hopefully they fit the bill!

Help: I'm not totally in love with the COPs out of the box. I like the bass impact and the SPL run amplessly but their weight and size makes them somewhat uncomfortable and the fact my GF's head is tiny makes me worried in that regard.

Any other suggestions? Must have high sensitivity for high volume run amplessly and ideally maybe be a little lighter than these. Comfort and isolation above all else. Bose SoundTrue seem like a good option for comfort but i don't think their bass extension goes deep enough and I'd like slightly more accuracy without sacrificing their "fun." The Bose are only $99 as well and I feel like there has to be better options for $150-$200.
