Looking at the pic, enchancing it a little...it says CT590 but I would have figured heaps of ppl would jump out and down saying its the CT590...so Im prob wrong
The 955 and 1000 are Japan (or Asia) only models for now. Unfortunately they get all the cool stuff before we do here in the states. I just orderd a D-EJ1000 from Warehouse123, they are one of the companies that import Japanese electronics into the states. Currently the D-EJ1000 is the smallest PCDP, but I think the top of the line Panasonic is a few grams lighter. Don't know about the sound quality yet (over 100 hours play life!), but it has optical/line out and a two stage anti-shock mode as well as showing CD-text on the remote.
The only problem I see with the Sony 955 and the Panasonic 790 is that small scratches on top will show up really easily because they're metal and shiny.
I've got the Panasonic CT570 as well as the Sony 915 and D-25S which all have aluminum (or some type of metal) lids and they are more scratch resistant than any of my all-plastic PCDP's. My 915 survived a 4 ft fall onto concrete, and just scratched/dented up a very small part of one corner. From my experience plastic will scratch easier than metal, but if the lids for the blue and black 955's are painted instead of anodized then they probably would scratch even easier than plastic or natural finish aluminum.
Too bad mine has this giant scratch on it (thank you Mr. Key bunch)... Good thing the line out is actually good otherwise I'd be itching for a new pcdp.
Wow, i'm not really into Discmans, but i like the rounded ones, they look sweet. I still like how my 25S looks though. I really prefer how many japanese MD players/recorders finish looks, some of them are beautiful.

You know, prettys soon, they're just going to have a little gerbil/cockroach thingy that runs around in circles on the surface of the CD. Now that is small.
