Which one would you choose? Sennheiser 660S2 or Beyerdynamic Amiron Home or Hifiman XS?

Your choice?

Hi people

some foreground:
I've been in the past keen to HiRes audio and home equipment (over 15 years ago), then moved abroad and sold everything. Here I bought very basic equipment for home and that's it.

Lately I bought a Sony WH-1000MX5 which kind of resuscitated the nostalgy of HiRes quality (listening only with cable even if it is not balanced and turned off so no ANC or added processing happens). From there I got a Sony ZX-707 (uncapped) which also pushed me to get better headphones and got the Sennheiser IE 600 last week (amazing btw).

current status:
So, I've been checking reviews for weeks and still not sure which one to choose between Sennheiser HD660S2 or Beyerdynamic Amiron Home or Hifiman XS... as I am interested into having open back cans, and within the budget of 500-800 eur (and already feeling guilty 🤷🏻‍♂️).
  • I like a mid state between U and V shaped sound, yet most of the times I end using AutoEq or 'bit perfect' playback (as is)
  • The music I like the most is with some bass content but also highs: vocals, sometimes latin (salsa, cumbia, reggaeton), contemporary classic ("Orphée" and similar), live performances
  • I listen mostly via Tidal either Master or Hires, but also some of my old DSDs and FLACs. But once in a while something from Spotify or my old MP3s (horribly ripped at 192kbps from vinil😃)

I would appreciate a lot the input from those that have one or two or the three of them, but also those that even having one or similars, as you also probably have more experience on headphones than I do ATM.

thank you all!

You will probably get the most mileage from the Sennheiser HD660S S2, as the sound is a little more mid-centric than the Amiron Home with just a little bit of treble sparkle, while having a more proven build quality from its dynamic drivers over the Edition XS planar drivers. If you do get the HD660S S2 and want a more life-like hybrid tube sound for musical enjoyment, the. you should also get this XDuoo TA-10R DAC/amp and 4.4mm-to-XLR adapter to use the 4.4mm balanced cable that should come with the HD660S S2:

Thanks a lot @pbui44 , evidently you are well versed :)

indeed my first idea was the HD660S2 but I ended up on the dilemma between the three of them, I'm inclined between that one and the XS, but still thinking about it. Ideal scenario would be to go to a shop and test them first hand but there is not, so doing it kind of in blind mode.

I'll keep your recommendation noted btw. Thx!
