HD555 X Beyer Dynamics DT440 X Audio technica AD700&A700

Which of these headphones work best without amp ..
I am using an e5 but i think most of u in here wont consider it as a an amp.

Usage:
1. Music ( rock , pop , orchestra music ) I like bass . but just moderate will do ( acceptable level ) . too dry bass and overbloated bass is a nono .
2. Movies ( I like soundstage alot )
3. Gaming ( cs or l4d )

thanks in advance

1. The ATs - about the same

2. The HD555

3. The DT440

Many claim that the AD700 lacks bass impact and that the 555s lack character - my personal preference is the DT440 from that lot.

I still got my HD555 after 5-6 years and still love it. (I have owned HD650, HE60, ED9, Shure530)

It sounds musically great, unamped from my computer out.

AD700 work better without an amp compared to the AD595 IMO. I find the bass on the AD700 to be nice and clean as compared to a bit slow and to much midbass with the 595. The 595 also has a veiled midrange as compared to a slightly recessed but clear midrange with the AD700. The AD700 is also more comfortable.

The OP listed the HD555, not the HD595.

All I can suggest is that you really need to audition as many headphones as possible, then buy the most expensive Grados you can afford. Better yet, be prepared to go into debt for the headphones you really want - the PS1000.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with the recommendations you have been given. I like my DT440s, and they are fantastic value for money, but they dont seem to have much of a following here. You need to hear your preferred options for yourself - its the only way.
