Which one of these should I get?

No, I simply cannot take this any more. I own the IE8 and the RE0, both of which are known to be quite the opposite in sound signature. After listening to the IE8 and going to the RE0 I don't miss the bass, the bass is present! It is very defined and accurate and has no mid-bass hump. This is what makes it so natural and this is also why many people would call it bass shy but it simply is not.

lol if only that'd work. the problem is both have weaknesses and strengths but are very pleasant to listen to.
I currently prefer the IE8 because of the huge soundstage, but the RE0 is not that far behind in terms of enjoyment.

I really did enjoy the sound of the RE0 but after a few days on the bus and train, I had to return them because the microphonics was too much for me, even with the shirt clip. Isolation wasn't that great either, I had to turn the music up a bit. I'm thinking of trying the new Sleek Audio SA6. SoundEarPhones.com is having a sale on them for $175.00 with free shipping with the coupon code in their forum. Just a suggestion. Oh, and if you've already bought the RE0s then just ignore this, hehe.

TLY: I didn't get the RE0's yet, but I will. To be honest I really don't like the look of the SA6's.

@fales: I'm not saying the RE0s are *bad* phones--I just bought a pair on the strength of my RE2s--I'm just saying that they might be the *wrong* phones for you, given your taste in music. If you were a fan of, say, live acoustic music, my reply would be completely different.

BTW, I agree with honeyboy. The C551s are good phones, but given your budget you can afford to step up a weight class. I can't vouch for the 700/710/751 line, but I hear they maintain the thick-bottomed sound profile I recall my 551s having while surpassing their midrange mediocrity.

How much bigger is it? My only reference would be going from the Etymotic ER6i's to the Super.Fi 5 v2's and that was pretty dramatic. I don't suppose you've heard either of those?
