Hi,

By chance, I located a shop selling new stock of old model PCDP: Sony, Panasonic & Denon.

However, most of them I've not heard of. Anybody out there has idea which of the following one(s) is/are excellent in terms of sound quality.

Sony

D-335
D-172K
D-11
D-127
D-808K
D-245
D-145
D-445
D-615
D-625
E-225
EJ-715
E-201
E-34K

Panasonic

SL-35p
SL-X280
SL-450
SL-290

There're some Denon PCDP but I didn't write down those model numbers.

Thx!

D-335 was very expensive when it first came into the market although it hasn't an attractive appearance.

335 has digital out and antishock of a couple of seconds.

335's output is powerful and the sound is very "warm" comparing to any other sony PCDP. It's bass is excellent!

If you like warm sound and excellent bass just go ahead and get one.

EDIT:~~~~~~nothing else in your list worth considering~~~~~

Yeah wbjia, I would pick the D-335 out of that list too... It had 6 seconds of ESP... It is really the most unattractive looking high-end Sony Discman ever... hate that remote the most... but I don't doubt the high quality sound it can produce...

Does anyone has comment of its sound quality compared to that of D-311, D-303 ,D-515 & D-555?

Hmm.. I've never heard the D-335, so take this [and all my other posts...

] worth a grain of salt... but even though it's new in box and all.. $138's a bit much to pay for something that's generally not regarded as "legendary." If it were "legendary," there'd be more of us here that have heard the player.. but I haven't heard much mention about the D-335. You can usually find great deals on eBay.. like Notorious' D-555 that sold on eBay for a mere $81 today. I'd go for a D-555 before a D-335 any day... [TOo bad I missed it, though..

Just my two grains.

I live in Hong Kong. BTW, I'm not going to buy D-335 as USD 138 is too much for me for a less well-known model on one hand and I'm happy with my D-25s on the other.

(unless it's a chain/department store, then I just don't think it's worth it, that's like 555 denon 150 price range)
