World Music - entirely black?? How do you get that? I am solidly hooked on Progressive Scandinavian Folk, which qualifies as World Music as far as I know, and it is almost entirely "white". Don't base your ideas on what Best Buy has in its "World Music" section - they sell what sells, and that's why it sells. Look for some music outside of the feedback loop.

BTW, the rest of your post is well said.

And your just jelous that these black gangsters (in your eyes) are making millions and gettin out of the ghetto. So leave these guys alone, if there gettin record deals someone must like em.

An average gangsta rapper spurts more racism in his lyrics than any music-loving hater of rap can comprehend.

Uh... Blues is started by Black people and I love it and Jazz is started by black people and I love it. Even rock was started by black people. And I also think that folk and country were created due to blues' great influence. Do I hate those music? Heck, no. I can't get enough of them. Do I hate trash rap? maybe, probably, Most definitely.

P.S.: The reason I like Kanye West is that he doesn't talk about kill this and kill that. Instead, he mostly talks about hope and his will to overcome. That's what the music's about, bring hope and happiness to people, not hatred. Just look at what happened to Tupac and Big Pun. Is that what music's about???

can someone lock this efin thread? this is completely a politcal show if i have ever heard one. even the question: which do you not believe in.

if this had anything to do with any election or party or was worded in colours of regimes, it would be out. please moderator, shut this thing down.

it is only helping people be annoyed by others likes and dislikes. this ain't good even if some people are just pissing in here.

where is death metal there... omg It is just so hard to appreciate the musical merits of that genre. The liberal use of blast beats and tremolo picking is super annoying. I don't hate it but it is super difficult to sift through the muck to get to music.

Rap is not technically music in that it is just rhythm. Personally, I can't stand it. My headphones/speakers are rap free.

from the oxford
music |ˌmjuːzɪk|
noun
1 the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion : he devoted his life to music.
• the vocal or instrumental sound produced in this way : couples were dancing to the music | baroque music.
• a sound perceived as pleasingly harmonious : the background music of softly lapping water.

i fail to see how rap would not fall into the category of vocal or instrumental sounds which is defined as 'music'.

For many people out there I would say most music from the 20th century.

I know this sounds a little weird but there are many people out there who never even heard of the Beatles.

Music has become so compartmentalized that many people are in their own bubble of modern music and modern artists that they like.

It used to be in the old days that all the cool kids knew Led Zeppliin or Metallica and other iconic bands. Now it’s just their play list of their own obscure singers from Pandora, etc...

Even I’m clueless, I’ll hear pop music from someone’s car and I have no idea who the artist is.
