I am going to buy a CMOY headphone amp but I am uncertain which is the better amp. I don't have the money to spend on any higher end amps so I need to decide from these two...or three....(unless someone can point me in a better direction for the same price)

this one from JDS Labs and on Ebay...

OR......

this other guy building the CMOY and selling them on Ebay....

there is also someone building and selling the CMOY in Austraila and boasts highly of his amp...he has a few different designs...

I am confused as to what is best. Some say bigger caps are better and some say that's not the case. Some have bass boost and some do not. Bass boost would be nice occasionally.

The third is made by a user here on head-fi and I've heard nothing but good things about his.  I built my own Cmoybb, but if I were going to buy one I'd go with Fred_Freds. (the third)  He actually helped me when I had questions during my build.

Agreed. I've purchased three amps from Fred_Fred.  If you ever want to explore the RA1 sound, buy one of his RA1 based amps and you cannot go wrong for you get the same sound quality for about 1/3 to 1/4 less (yes, I've owned both the Grado RA1 battery and AC versions).  Workmanship is on par to the bigger names around here.  He's very responsive to questions.  I'm thinking about buying another from him (desktop based RA1 with bass boost in an all metal Hammond case - nice).

The third eBay link doesn't work.

Hmm, worked for me.  The second link doesn't work for me though.  The one in the third link looks pretty bad ass TBH.  But for $83.76 USD and shipping from Oz, I'd probably wind up just picking up a Total Airhead instead.  Especially since they're only $75 right now with another $6 for shipping:  http://www.headphone.com/headphone-amps/headroom-total-airhead.php

When I click on the third link it comes back with "item removed". Maybe it's my iPhone browser?

I have to learn about the Total AirHead. Thanks for the link.

Nah, it's probably because it was from a year and a half ago.  I think your browser's fine.  I'm on a pretty tight budget these days, but that AirHead is calling to me.
