Dear Head-fis,

Please help me choose one.

Rotel 1070 (Used): $320.

NAD C542 (Brand New One): $410.

The Rotel was discontinued and replaced by the 1072 but was a $700 player 3 or 4 years back - they still go for over $400 so $320 is a very good deal, they were pretty well regarded in some quarters.

I have the NAD C542 which is a fine CD player in its price range and $410 is a very good price. My guess is that the Rotel would be superior but it is just a guess based on my experience with other Rotels (855/975/02/940), of course you have no warranty with a used player...

Yes, the rotel 1070 is attractive to me. But slightly worry about the warranty thing.

I guess the rotel 1072 is superior to the nad C542. But how much the difference would be? Is that much huge?

How about Marantz SACD player, 8260?

I found a used one, $460. Is it a good deal? The seller of Rotel told me it was already gone.

I have a 542 and it's a great player for the price. Don't forget that you also get a warranty and HDCD compatability with it as well. I've never heard the Rotel, but a friend who's heard both players actually preferred the 542.
