Which is a better setup?

Auzentech Xplosion (optical out) -> Receiver DAC -> Headphone or speaker

or

iBasso DAC (analog out) -> Receiver -> Headphone or speaker

i think you are better off sending a digital signal into your receiver because im guessing all of the processing it does is digital. if you send it an analog signal it would probably convert it to digital anyways. I guess it really depends on the receiver, can you provide more information?

receiver is a Yamaha budget receiver and the iBasso is the D2 Boa

i would think the optical into the reciever would sound best, but only if you are driving speakers from the reciever. For headphone use, just use the boa right out of the computer.

I can't do that cause I'm gonna be using it with Stax, but thanks for your input.
