Damn, it's an auction and it's getting too expensive...
Do you guys think those are good options? Which one would you choose? (Sorry for the sea of options, but I don't know anything about vintage amps)

The problem is that I'm kind of confined to the options available on ebay, because that kind of equipment is much cheaper in the UK than here in Brazil, and as I'm going to England in a week's time, it'll be the perfect opportunity to get one!

If your head is a bit broader than average I would strongly advise to try on a K1000 first. When I tried them they almost crushed my temples and the lower ends were spreading away from me.

After two years on Head-Fi and MANY purchases later, I am left wondering why I didn't get the K 1000's earlier - YES, these really are everything that people say, probably the best damn headphone I have ever heard. They came in a week ago and they initially brought tears to my eyes, they were that good !!! - the soundstage, the detail speed and accuracy for dynamics is truly unbelievable. I currently have them running direct from my Technics SU-V5 Integrated NewClass 'A' amp and am anxiously awaiting a newly purchased Black Dragon pigtail for this current setup. I also have the rarely discussed SAC/AKG K 1000 amp coming in from Germany any day now to compare to my present setup. All things told - these are definitely keepers and well worth every cent

This sure sounds familiar!
For two years I went through all the Stax models I could get my hands on. The SR-007BL is awesome, but it could not stop me from searching on. Then two years ago I got my hands on a K1000 - instant love. :k1000:

Charlie, thank you for your opinions! I'm convinced that they are the way to go! Problem is that I have to rely on head-fi's classifieds... might take a long time!
You have a lot of other cans, some of which I was considering to be options when I created this thread. How do they compare to the top Staxes, to the ESP-950 and to the LCD-2?

unholyftw, thanks for sharing your thoughs... but to be honest my dad has the on-ears and I had their ear-buds a long time ago, and I'm definitely not into Bose! But still - thanks for that!

nikongod: me?
