Hi, im new to headphones but im mainly just going to be using them to listen to my ipod outside, so they need to be portable and not to big. I listen to mostly hip hop and trance so im looking for clarity and i love bass. if they have sound cancellation thats a plus also. My max price to spend is about $250. I'm looking at the Denon D1000 or D2000, the Sennheiser HD 212 Pro, Ultrasone hfi-780 and the audiotecha ath-m50. I tried the Beats by Dre headphones and i liked the size of them but thought they lacked the bass I want. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would cross out the HD212 and the D2000.
The HD212 is far from what I would call hi-fi..
and the D2000 is big and requires an amp.
The D1001 (and D1000) doesn't have the isolation.

The rest, ATH-M50 and HFI-780 should work fine. Both have nice bass, iirc.

If you are going to be using them outside, I would think about IEM's. IDK about you, but my ears tend to sweat when I am outside with my headphones

The HFI-780 have awesome bass, clear and punchy and will be just great for the genres you mentioned. They're a bit on the big side for portable use and the cable is rather long, but they're foldable.
