I think (hope?) that this was a joke. The QC2 are unbelievably uncompetitive at $299.

I saw Bose announced a smaller QC3 for $349! Unreal.

If we're talking about the mass public, then the QC2s would probably be king. They'd instantly be wow'd by the BOSE brand, then WOW'd by their comfort/cirmcumaural design, then WOW'd that they have a lot of bass and sound better than their iPod earbuds. That's what I think would happen

That's probably all true, and then most people are stunned that they cost $300. They'd be just as wowed if they put on $99 HD555's most of the time, having never heard even decent headphones.

Of the cans I own or have owned: HD650/600/580, CD3000, SA5000, RS1, K340, K501, K701 and K1000's, its definitely the K1000's. They easily provide me with the biggest wow factor of any can that I've owned. All the others are excellent headphones but the K1000's provide me with the great listening experience.

I can't play along unless I can mention a discontinued set of phones. With that said I will play along and break your rule.

A properly amped set of AKG K1000s.

They are the only set of phones that make me consistently say (out loud) 'wow those things are amazing' each and every time I am finished with a listening session and I remove them from my head. I'm sure my wife has probably grown tired of hearing me make that comment.

They are a magical set of phones. It is a crime that AKG has discontinued making them. Not only do I wish they continued making them, but I would have been thrilled to see them try to attempt to improve and refine them even further. I know it's not gonna' happen, but one can dream.

It was a joke. That is why I wrote the following after two replies.

"Why? because it makes you think

WOW dude, what a piece of garbage."

KSC75 through Philips AZ6831 line-out and amped: WOW!

$15 for Koss, $15 for the source and $120 for amp. How more beautiful can it get
