I'm curious to know which headphone comes closer to rendering the DT880 soundstage but with more bass.

A900 or HD595

anyone?

I'll be using these in comparison with my current setup with dolby headphone.

I have had experiences with HD595 and currently own the DT880 and I would say the two phones are very similar, I prefer the DT880 more due to the extention that it has in the highs and the lows. Both phones have similar tonality but the HD595's mid range frequencies are much more in your face, but in a refined way.... if that makes sense at all... But to answer your question, I find the HD595s have less bass than the DT880s. I have no experience with A900, maybe someone can chime in

I'm also sort of in the same boat as the OP, considering dt880's, 595's or A900's (on sale for $169....). Hoping for more responses

if ur considering between the 3 then get the 880 unless u want a full closed can then get the a900.

in terms of bass... non existent in the 595 im my view.

Are you going to be amping them? If not, take the DT880 off your list right away.

I am hoping to achieve a similiar soundstage as DT880 with more bass.

I think A900s might come close to DT880s in soundstage.

I read that they come close to CD3000s

I've not heard the A900 but I do have the A900LTD and have owned the HD595 and heard the DT880 (previous version, not the current one) on multiple occasions. I'll be upfront and say I'm not a fan of the DT880.

- Neither the A900LTD nor HD595 sound anything like the DT880 but the HD595 would be closer than the A900. The warmth and bassy sound of the A900LTD is more reminiscent of HD650.
- A900LTD is definitely more bassier than HD595 which I found to be very balanced and silky.
- I'm going by memory from more than a year ago, but I'm pretty sure the A900LTD has a bigger soundstage than the HD595. DT880 has the widest soundstage I've heard.

It sounds like you're looking for something similar to the DT880, but I don't think the A900 and HD595 sound similar to the DT880. Have you considered the DT990 or a Darth Beyer?
