I've read many posts about dolby headphone and I bought a Creative HQ 2300D that has a portable dolby headphone encoder.

I'm very happy of the listening result with a pair of Beyer DT990 Pro 250, but with the Creative unit it's not possible to change the environment of the DH effect that is, I suppose, DH2 room.

I was wandering if the Astro A40 or the JVC SU-DH1 or another dolby encoder is a better solution than my creative or the price difference is not worthy.

Thanks to everybody!

SU-DH1 does DH1 and DH3. The Astro A40 only does DH2.

I have both a SU-DH1 and a Xonar D2 soundcard that also does Dolby Headphone. Personally, DH2 is my least favourite of the 3 and I hardly use it. Only DH1 really sounds natural to me as it has the least room reflections, which I think sound rather artificial. I like DH3 sometimes for the extra space sense of space but it messes with sound that already has environmental audio cues.
