Ditto on the Clip/E5 combo, but this combo really shines with FLAC files. It is only OK with mp3, even high rate ones. The bass boost seems to come through better with FLAC.

OP back again.....

I'm leaning toward the Fuze/E5 combo at this point. I may also consider the Cowon iaudio7 or the iriver Clix....

I'm more of an audio purist, so I won't use sound enhancements. If I can get a decent dac in one of these units and either a decent amp or line out, then my FLAC files should sound pretty good with the E5 once I upgrade to IE8s or SE310s.

I'll do a little more looking around the forums. Please toss in more advice....thanks!

That's my combo as well. I removed the Clips' clip and used double sided tape to stick them together.
