2nd gen ipod - 2 long years 24/7 (I was backpacking). It was love at first sight, but 10GB just wasn't enough
Rio Karma - 8 long months. I thought it'd be great, but as soon as I saw it I kind of knew I'm too shallow and it was too boxy. And brittle. And prone to crashing.
Sony HD3 - about a year. Appealed to my shallow side, although the UI was limited.
Sony HD5H - 6 months. Love it, haven't had one problem with it yet, it'll last forever. Until the new generation of slimline players (probably flash) come along. Or a shinier one with more knobs....

I bought my first Karma 16 months ago. Managed to break the scroll wheel, and when I took it back for warranty replacement it'd been discontinued, so they refunded me my money, sold me a demo unit for $45 and let me keep the old one.

Anyways, I fixed the scroll wheel, but then borked the hard drive (yeah--my fault). That was on the original. My new one works just flawlessly. Dunno which is older though, since the replacement had lost it's S/N tag.

Nope. I got this one.

I still use my PJB-100 DAILY! I have 2 of them, and they've each been upgraded to 40GB (can upgrade to 80GB). My first one I purchased in early 2000!

I still have the receipt, and it was something like $700 or $800 with car charger! Looking back, it's the best investment I ever made.

I had a Sony minidisc player that lasted me a good 3 years. It was still working when I replaced it with an iPod mini which I still use now. The mini will probably still be working when I replace that too...probably because I've been eyeing a 5th gen video in black...

creative muvo² 1,5gb (4gb)

bought it july 04 (1 1/2 years ago)

2 times 1,5 replaced ('media error' - frozen, no booting up anymore, just hung up), after the 2nd replacement (=3rd player) they just sent me the:

muvo 4gb

dunno why, maybe they didnt produce the 1,5 anymore, or there was a failure in the whole 1,5 line

the 4gb had a problem with the phone jack, the line out output -> replacement

then i had the 4gb muvo for about a half year, like 3 weeks ago it just hung up, froze, 'media error'
they wont replace it anymore, cus the warranty ran out

-> my 5th muvo in 1 and a half year (that doesnt work anymore now)

:/

Archos jukebox, 2001. Still works without problem. Thanks to rockbox still is being used on a regular basis. I'm thinking to get a microstack to use it as bedside rig with the old archos
