I've been reading a bit on this forum but still have a hard time finding the right player for my needs. I have a few requirements:

- >30Gig HDD
- long battery life (preferably over 20h)
- smallish
- color display NOT a requirement
- Able to drag and drop files from Windows explorer
- support for lot of file formats

What would be my choices? The iAudio M5L and Philips players look pretty good.

See iaudiophile.net forums for detailed info on the M5 and X5

Also said "a lot of file formats" so AAC/MP3/WAV/ALAC doesn't really cover that quite properly in terms of the majority of people and the various file formats. MP3/WAV/FLAC/OGG tend to be more popular with the "serious" portable audio persons even accounting for the massive numbers of people that own iPods.

Amazing how that works. A few bulls (or bullheaded) in the massive flocks of sheep, I'd say.

He'd do well to get the X5L. Fits all his requirements as stated.

I was kind of stating it jokingly. The 60gb does have the battery life, but very true about the drag and drop.

Creative Labs Zen Touch. I've owned one for a little over a year and love it...average battery life is OVER 20 hours. It holds 40 gig and, although bigger then an Ipod, is smallish. The latest bios supports drag and drop and the player is recognized in any win me or xp computer.

AND

It sounds great...
