I am stuck between thee SCHIIT Bifrost Uber and the Audio GD NFB-3.
 
 
Which one would you buy and why ? both are around the same price....

Which one of these settings do you prefer and why ..
 
(1) Standalone Desktop DAC + Standalone Desktop AMP 
 
or
 
(2) Desktop AMP&DAC combo

Unless the Audio-GD is known to be considerably better (I haven't researched it), I'd go w/ the Bifrost, as its made in America and I prefer their industrial design + suite of products. I own a Bifrost (and a Vali amp) and am loving them so far. 
 
I also subscribe to their philosophy of separate components, so you can upgrade / change pieces of your signal chain without altering / upsetting the other components - SO to your other question, standalone amp & DAC.

What is your audio setup and how will the DAC be used with it?

I want to listen as analytically as possible, these two DACs are the best DACs out there for under $600, both use high quality chips and implementations. I want to couple it with the O2 which by the way is the cleanest amp out there for low impedance headphones in terms of distortion and crosstalk. after buying a good DAC my plan is to add the AKG K702 to my setup because people here say that it has the best soundstage/Imaging/detail for under $600 as well.
 
I already have plenty of low impedance headphones such as A700x/HD598/DT990/SR225i but I am looking for an analytical and accurate headphone. people here suggested K70x and say there is not a better one untill HD800.
