I realize that almost all current PDPs have a USB connection. Does that mean I can use ANY pdp that has USB with an external USB DAC ? or the pdp's usb needs to support digital audio transfer ? In that case which pdps do support that and which do not ?
Thanks.

No, I would say that most of the time, a PDP has a usb jack in order to allow for file transfer and charging the battery. There are some PCDP's

i.e. cd players, that have optical out (although quite obviously, not via the usb jack) which you could then connect to a DAC that has optical input. Also, one example of a PDP with optical out is the iriver H140.
