Hey guys. Following question:

If i have a Dac that can switch between sync and async mode and the dac gets fed by a streamer with a good clock is there any reason to not take the sync mode?

Thanks in advance.

Check this thread out:

In most cases it won't be audible with a decent DAC. This is because it will either have a PLL ( phase locked loop ) to help mitigate the jitter or it may use async mode to try and predict and control the loss of clock continuity. The benefits of async allows for jitter to be very low. It's important to understand if your DAC is truly async in the chip itself or is the async mode really just changing samples rates of the DAC. For that you'll have to dig into the literature of the DAC.

ASYNC mode should reduce the jitter the most if it is truly running in async mode at the chip level.
