I have narrowed down my next headphones to the following three models.
Grado sr325i Denon 5000 and the ATH W1000s. I want to experience a contrasting sound to my senn hd650.

What ae their relative strengths weaknesses?

Which do I buy?!?!

Hi,
What kind of music do you listen to? To contrast to HD650, Grados would be a good choice. They're quite bright and upfront. The D5000 are quite bass heavy, from what I've read. They are also good for modding (there's a big thread about D5000 mods somewhere). Don't know much about the W1000s.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

As DHHZ said that Grado's would be the logical step. They sound totally different than the HD650 in every way. So I guess you can say Grado is the polar opposite of Sennheiser. I can confirm this as I have headphones from both companies.

Grado's have:
1) Extremely narrow soundstage
2) Colored Mids (good for rock/metal)
3) Nice bass, but not thumpy
4) Treble oriented sound signature

I like them a lot though. They are nice cans.

In my opinion, sound is also #1. Now, does it mean that headphones which cost $1000 are 10x better than the ones that cost $100? Usually not, but here is something to think about:

Winning speed at the 100 meter olympics dash might have a winning time of 9.69, while the guy who gets 9.75 might not even medal. The difference in .06 of a second can be HUGE.

Grado deserves the preimum, in my opinion. I hope you will have a chance to listen to a pair before buying anything.
